January 21, 2008. New England Region Annuarl Business Meeting.
Our annual business meeting was held Monday night, January 21 at the Holiday Inn in Boxborough, MA. After swearing in new officers and board members, Kass Green, ASPRS National President-Elect, summarized ASPRS achievements over the past several years, and discussed future goals for the Society.

The evening provided an opportunity for networking, reconnecting with colleagues, and welcoming new faces. Thanks to all who attended.

December 17, 2007. New England Region Technical Meeting.
On Monday night, December 17th the New England Region of ASPRS held a technical meeting at the DeLorme headquarters in Yarmouth, ME. After some refreshments, we heard two presentations. The first was a brief presentation from Geoffrey Ives of DeLorme about their current GIS software offering, XMap. XMap is available at 3 different levels, providing varying functionality including imagery importing, GIS analysis, and database management.

The second presentation was by Claire Kiedrowski of KAPPA Mapping, Inc., and was a condensed version of a workshop she co-teaches at national ASPRS conferences with Mike Renslow. The topic is emerging trends in remote sensing technology. It was a general overview of the all-day workshop, and was packed full of interesting information.

Brief announcements were also made concerning other upcoming ASPRS events, both regional and national. Elections have been held and an announcement concerning this will be made shortly.

Thank you to all who attended. We hope to see everyone at our annual business meeting on Monday, January 21, 2008 at the Holiday Inn in Boxborough, MA. The guest speaker will be Kass Green, national President-Elect. Kass will also swear in our new officers and board members at this meeting. September 24, 2007. New England Region Technical Meeting.
The first New England Region ASPRS technical meeting for Fall 2007 was held at the University of New Hampshire in Durham, NH. The event was well attended, with light refreshments from 6:30-7:30, followed by a presentation by Lucie Plourde, Research Scientist at Complex Systems Research Center within the Institute for the Study of Earth, Oceans, and Space. Plourde presented research results from recent projects that explored using imaging spectroscopy to map tree species abundances and monitor health in northern temperate forests.

December 4, 2006. New England Region Technical Meeting.
The second New England Region ASPRS technical meeting for for Fall 2006 was held at the University of Connecticut in Storrs, CT. An excellent evening was enjoyed, including presentations by members of UCONN's Geospatial Technology Program, the Laboratory for Earth Resources & Information Systems, the Center for Land-use Education and Research, and the Department of Natural Resources Management and Engineering. October 2, 2006. New England Region Technical Meeting.
The first New England Region ASPRS technical meeting for Fall 2006, held at Clark University in Worcester, MA, was a great success! Take a look at the detailed schedule and pictures from the event.

April 24, 2006. New England Region Technical Meeting.
The spring technical meeting was hosted by George Waddington and other members of Applied Analysis, Inc. of Billerica, MA. The meeting began with a social hour, complete with a deli-style buffet and refreshments. Presentations included AAI's new tools for water quality and depth mapping, along with its new change detection software. Members of Leica Geosystems were in attendance, as they were visiting AAI to evaluate the change detection software for possible inclusion as an add-on module to Leica Imagine software. The group of approximately 30 attendees was then treated to a walking tour of the facilties before finishing the evening with a quick overview of the many other capabilities that AAI offers. The meeting was a smashing success and everyone enjoyed the information, food, and friendship that was shared.

January 23, 2006. New England Region Annual Dinner and Business Meeting.
The New England Region of ASPRS had our annual business meeting and dinner at the Boxboro, MA, Holiday Inn on Monday, January 23, 2006. The meeting and banquet was followed by an excellent presentation by ASPRS National President-elect, Kari Craun. Chief of the National Geospatial Technical Operations Center III of the U.S. Geological Survey, Craun discussed the background and status of the Imagery for the Nation Initiative. The evening concluded with the swearing-in of the new region officers for the next term.

October 13, 2005. New England Region Technical Meeting
The New England Region of ASPRS held a technical meeting on Thursday, October 13, 2005 at DeLorme (http://www.delorme.com)  in Yarmouth, Maine. The event began with a meeting of the board of directors, which was followed by a technical presentation by Jonathan Pershouse, head of DeLorme's Raster Group. The presentation showcased DeLorme's TopoBird image data acquisition platform using Leica's ADS40 and ALS40 digital camera and lidar systems, and featured an extensive tour of DeLorme's full hardware/software product line. Approximately twenty-five remote sensing, GIS, and survey industry professionals were in attendance and a deli-style buffet was served. This meeting was a full-out success.

June 4, 2005. New England Region Technical Meeting
The New England Region of ASPRS held a technical meeting on Saturday, June 4, 2005 on the campus of University of New Hampshire. This event was co-hosted by the New England Section of the American Congress of Surveyors and Mappers (ACSM). Technical presentations were given by professionals and graduate students. Following the technical meeting, a short board of directors meeting was held to discuss our participation in the upcoming New England GIS (NEGIS) meeting scheduled for May of 2006.

March 21, 2005 – New England Region Annual Dinner and Business Meeting
The New England Region Annual Dinner and Business Meeting were held on Monday, March 21 at the Holiday Inn in Boxborough, MA. The event featured a Social Hour (cash bar) from 6:30 to 7:30 followed by dinner at 7:30. After dinner, there was a short business meeting to discuss the goals and plans for the region next year. Many good ideas came out of this discussion, including a list of potential places for future technical meetings. In addition, it was announced that the region was invited and has accepted to participate in the NE GIS meeting planning and sponsorship. Finally, it was suggested that next year's annual dinner and business meeting include some technical presentation as well to draw as large a crowd as possible. In all, just under twenty of our members attended this banquet. The consensus of the group was that this event was fun, productive, and entertaining.

November 16, 2004. New England Region Technical Meeting
The Department of Natural Resources Science at the University of Rhode Island hosted a fall meeting for the New England Region. Excellent talks were enjoyed by nearly 60 attendees, on topics including GIS applications for environmental monitoring and data system development in Rhode Island, remote sensing for mapping salt marshes and submerged aquatic vegetation, using geospatial data for identifiying kangaroo habitat in Papua New Guinea, and monitoring land-cover change in national parks in the Northeast.

September 30, 2004. New England Region Technical Meeting
The Mathworks, Inc. (http://www.mathworks.com) of Natick, Massachusetts hosted the region's technical meeting on Thursday, September 30. The evening began with dinner supplied by our host, followed by an excellent technical presentation of their software and mapping capabilities, with specific details on their Mapping Toolbox. The meeting closed with a tour of The Mathworks's impressive facility, including software development areas and testing labs.

April 26, 2004. Annual Meeting and Installation of Officers
April 26, 2004 marked the kick-off meeting of the "rejuvenated" New England Region. The meeting took place at the Pease International Tradeport in Portsmouth, NH, and featured installation of new officers, with dinner at the Red Hook Brewery followed by a tour of the Pan American hangar. It was a great evening of socializing, networking, and activating this ASPRS region once again.
